Sun bear
A bornean sun bear is found in Thailand,
Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra,
and Borneo. The habitat of a bornean sun bear
includes dense tropical and subtropical forest.

The sun bear is the smallest of the world's
eight bear species. The sun bear is about half the size of
the American black bear. The name sun bear comes from
the white or yellowish crescent marking on sun bears' chest.
The marking on the sun bear reminds many people of the
rising or setting sun, hence the name sun bear.

Sun bears are endangered species. The San Diego
Zoo has a endangered species chart on every San Diego Zoo
animal 's description. It is not known how
many sun bears are left in the wild, since sun bears'
secretive nature makes them hard to study.
